ESSEX COACHES -- LEARNING FROM THE BEST!!!
It is our goal at the Essex Volleyball Club to become the best teaching club not only in NJ but the country. Many of our coaches have attended the Gold Medal Squared coaches clinic and have been trained by some of the best coaches in the country. This past weekend 4 of our coaches attended the Gold Medal Squared Level 2 clinic held in San Francisco, California. Pictured from left to right are Chris McGowen, Essex Coach Mike Tully, Essex Coach Matt Kingsley, Ed Saggio, Essex VBC Director, Carl McGowen, former head coach at BYU 2 time NCAA men’s champs and Essex Coach Mike Bellinger. Carl McGowen is also an advisor to the USA Women’s National Team as well as Assistant Coach with the USA Men’s National Team for over 20 years.
WINTER BREAK TRAINING SCHEDULE: NORTH TEAMS - Winter Break is the week of February 15th and we will NOT have access to our facility in Paramus. We will though be training out of our Fair Lawn location as follows:
Tuesday, February 16th:
6:00pm - 8:00pm - 14's and Developmental Team
8:00pm - 10:00pm - 16-1's, 16-2's and 17-1's and 17-2's
Wednesday, February 17th:
6:00pm - 8:00pm - All 15's teams
8:00pm - 10:00pm - 16-1's and 16-2's and HS CLINIC
Training schedule will resume as normal the week of February 22nd.

HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL CLINICS:
Our NORTH Wednesday night clinic #2 starting on March 3rd is now FULL.
We are offering another NORTH TUESDAY night clinic #3 which will start on March 2nd. This clinic will take place at East Brook Middle School in Paramus from 8:00pm - 10:00pm. Spots are still open for this clinic. If interested please download our registration form off of our home page and send it in to reserve your spot.
(Please note that starting in January 2010 on the 2nd Wednesday of each month ONLY the HS clinic at our NORTH location in Fair Lawn will run from 7:00pm - 9:00pm - All other weeks the clinic will meet normal time 8-10pm)
SOUTH CLINIC: We will be offering a second SOUTH clinic #2 starting on Sunday, March 7th from 8:00pm - 10:00pm at Union Catholic High School. If interested please download the registration form off of our home page, write "Second Session" across the page and send it in to reserve your spot.
DEVELOPMENTAL PROGRAM: UPDATED!!! 2/8/10
This program is open to girls up to 8th grade and will focus on the skills and techniques of volleyball. This program meets 1x per week. We will be offering (2) 10 week sessions.
START DATE: Second Session begins Tuesday, March 16, 2010 - SPOTS STILL OPEN!!!

TIME: 6:00pm - 7:45pm

2009-2010 TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE: This seasons GEVA tournament schedule is posted on our website under "Schedules".
These are the dates provided to us by GEVA. All of our teams will compete in the 5 tournaments shown in that age division.
Any changes to the schedule will be updated immediately.

The following is the training schedule for our North teams.
Paramus - Tuesday nights:
6:00pm - 8:00pm: 15's - all teams
8:00pm - 10:00pm: 16-1, 17-1
Fairlawn - Tuesday nights:
6:00pm - 8:00pm: 14-1's and 14-2's & 12's
8:00pm - 10:00pm: 16-2, 17-2
Fairlawn - Wednesday nights:
6:00pm - 8:00pm: 15's - All Teams
8:00pm - 10:00pm: 16-1, HS Clinic
(Please note that starting in January 2010 on the 2nd Wednesday of each month ONLY we will be moving our training schedule at the Fair Lawn location up 1 hour - Teams that normally practice from 6-8 will practice 5-7, and teams that normally practice from 8-10 will practice from 7-9)

- NEW ELITE TEAMS!!!! This year Essex VBC will be adding Elite Teams at the 16 and 17 & under age levels. These teams will train at our NORTH location ONLY and will compete in all of the Regional GEVA tournaments plus the Lancaster Tournament, NEQ'S and Happy Volley Tournament at Penn State.
- GOLD MEDAL SQUARED TRAINING: Essex Volleyball Club teaches using the Gold Medal Squared Method of Training. This method of training was developed by Olympic Coaches Carl McGowan and Doug Beal and has been proven to improve a players technical skills regardless of their level of play.
- CONSISTENCY IN LEARNING: All of our coaches at Essex VBC will be using Gold Medal Squared methods and techniques so that there is consistency in learning from our youngest to our oldest level teams. For more information on how our coaches have been trained please visit www.goldmedalsquared.com
- REGIONAL TEAMS: We will also be offering Regional level teams at the 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 & under age levels. These teams will compete in all the Regional GEVA tournaments as well as one sleep over tournament.
